Handyman, Painting & Lock Services in Palm Springs
The Village of Palm Springs was incorporated on May 31, 1957, and it went up fast. About 800 homes stood by August 1958, on farmland between what is now Greenacres to the west and Lake Clarke Shores and Lake Worth Beach to the east. The population roughly doubled again through the 1970s, and since 1998 annexation has more than doubled the village's land area. It is also the only municipality in Palm Beach County with a Hispanic majority. Palm Home Pros works all of it.

Working in Palm Springs
Housing stock
The core of Palm Springs is late-1950s single-story concrete block, low and compact, on slab with terrazzo or tile, hollow-core interior doors, jalousie-era window frames and carports frequently enclosed into living space. Around it sit two- and four-story condominium buildings from the 1960s and 1970s. Block walls throughout mean masonry anchors for mounts, grab bars and shelving.
Associations and access
Lake Clarke Gardens, Palm Springs Village and Regal Palms are 55+ associations, and each sets its own quiet hours, elevator and laundry-room rules, and limits on what may be hung or stored on a catwalk. Most want a certificate of insurance before a technician enters the building. Older single-family streets in the village generally have no association at all.
Palm Springs Went Up Almost All at Once
When a place builds 800 houses in about a year, the houses are close cousins. The original Palm Springs stock is small single-story concrete block on modest lots, low rooflines, slab floors with terrazzo or tile, window frames from the jalousie era, and carports that have often been closed in to make another room somewhere along the way. Floor plans repeat street to street.
That is genuinely useful for a repair company. We know roughly what is behind the wall before we drill, we know which doors in that plan are hollow-core, and we know the closed-in carport is where wall textures stop matching. It means fewer surprises mid-job and quotes that hold. The catch is that seventy years of separate owners means the details on any given house may have been changed three times, so we still look before we commit.
Lake Clarke Gardens, Palm Springs Village and Regal Palms
The village also holds a dense group of age-restricted condominiums. Lake Clarke Gardens is a large 55+ community with its own pools, clubhouse and shuffleboard. Palm Springs Village sits just south of the airport with elevator access to all floors and shared laundry. Regal Palms is a low-rise 55+ complex with a clubhouse, pool and walking paths. These are low buildings, tight parking and long catwalks.
Work in them is small and constant. Grab bars beside a tub or a shower seat. A round knob swapped for a lever handle. Brittle blinds replaced. A closet door back on track. A unit repainted between owners. A rekey after a family member or a helper stops coming by. Because these buildings have quiet hours and shared laundry and elevator space, we schedule around them rather than through them.
What Annexation Did to Palm Springs Addresses
Palm Springs has been annexing land since 1998 and has more than doubled its footprint doing it. The practical result is a patchwork: one side of a street can sit inside the village while the other side is unincorporated Palm Beach County, and the ZIP code will not tell you which is which. Addresses across 33406, 33461 and 33415 fall on both sides of that line.
For everyday repairs, painting and lock work it changes nothing about how the job is done. It changes who you call about anything that needs a permit, and it changes which set of local rules applies to your property. We will tell you honestly when a job is outside what we do, rather than starting it and stopping halfway.

Questions from Palm Springs
Do you work in the 55+ buildings in Palm Springs like Lake Clarke Gardens?
Yes. Lake Clarke Gardens, Palm Springs Village and Regal Palms each run their own rules on quiet hours, elevator use and what can sit on a catwalk while work is going on. We file a certificate of insurance with the office, work inside the building's hours, keep the walkway clear and clean up as we go. Tell us the building and we confirm its rules before the visit.
Can you install grab bars in a Palm Springs condo bathroom?
Yes, and it is one of the most requested jobs we get in the village. Bathroom walls in these buildings are usually block or a framed partition over block, so the bar goes into anchors rated to hold real weight, not into tile alone. We fit it at the height and angle that actually helps the person using it, seal the penetrations, and test it with full body weight before we leave.
Why do so many Palm Springs houses have the same layout?
Because the village was built almost all at once. Palm Springs incorporated in May 1957 and had roughly 800 homes standing by August 1958, so the original stock repeats a handful of plans street to street. For us that means fewer surprises behind a wall and quotes that hold. The variable is what individual owners changed since, most often the carport being closed in as living space.
Can you rekey a Palm Springs home after buying it?
Yes, and it is worth doing straight away. We rekey the existing cylinders on the front door, back door and any side or garage entry so every exterior door runs on one new key and every older key stops working. In older Palm Springs houses we usually also check that the strike plates and latches actually engage, because a rekeyed lock on a swollen door still will not secure the house.
Is my Palm Springs address inside the village or in unincorporated county?
Not always obvious. Palm Springs has annexed land steadily since 1998 and more than doubled its area, so village and unincorporated parcels sit side by side and the ZIP code does not settle it. For painting, repairs, mounting and lock work it makes no difference to how we do the job. It does decide who you deal with locally, so it is worth knowing before any work that needs a permit.
