Measure before you buy
If you have not ordered yet, we can measure first and tell you inside mount or outside mount, because a stock blind ordered to the wrong measurement is not returnable once cut. If you already have the product, we confirm it fits before drilling anything.

Test the wall and set brackets
Above a slider or a window, the wall is often CBS block or a header, and a curtain rod loaded with heavy panels pulls hard. We test, set the right anchors, and add a center support on any wide run so the rod does not bow.

Hang, level, and demonstrate
Coverings hung, levelled across the run rather than piece by piece, cords and wands set to the safe length, and every one operated in front of you. Old coverings and packaging leave with us.
Why window coverings matter more in South Florida
Coverings here are not decoration, they are part of how the home handles heat. West and south facing glass in Palm Beach County takes direct sun for most of the afternoon, and an uncovered slider will make a room noticeably warmer and run the air conditioning harder. Cellular shades and lined panels on those openings do measurable work.
They also protect everything else. Ultraviolet light through untreated glass fades flooring, upholstery, and artwork faster here than most owners expect, and units that sit closed and unshaded through a summer come back to a visibly bleached floor line by October. Closing the coverings is part of a proper close up in April or May.
Wide sliders, block headers, and rods that bow
Nearly every home and unit in this county has at least one wide sliding patio door, and hanging a rod over it is the job that most often goes wrong as a self install. The run is long, the panels are heavy, and the wall above the opening is usually block or a solid header. Anchors intended for hollow board simply do not work there, and a rod without a center support bows within weeks.
We test what is above the opening, drill for masonry where it is masonry, and add center support on wide runs. For vertical panels over a slider, we also check the stack direction so the panels do not pile up in front of the door handle you use every day.
Association rules that affect what shows from outside
In a lot of Palm Beach County buildings, the association governs the color that faces out. The usual rule is that the exterior facing side of any covering must read white or off white from the parking lot or the catwalk, so the building looks uniform. Owners find this out after they hang a bright liner and get a letter.
We ask which building you are in before installation and check the rule if you are unsure. It is a small question that saves reordering. Some buildings also restrict anchoring into the frame around the opening, in which case an inside mount is out and we plan an outside mount on the wall instead.
Salt air, humidity, and what wears out
Coverings near an open slider or a screened patio collect the same salt film that lands on everything else. On verticals it stiffens the carriers in the headrail until panels stop turning. On corded blinds it dries the cord and it snaps. On roller shades the mechanism gets gritty and the shade starts dropping on its own.
Most of that is repairable. Replacing carriers, slats, wands, and cords is far cheaper than replacing a full set, and on the older stock in this county the parts are usually still available. We will tell you honestly when a set is worth repairing and when the headrail is done and you should buy new.
Rentals, turnovers, and seasonal timing
In rentals, blinds are the most consistently damaged item in a unit. Slats get bent, wands disappear, and cords break. Doing a covering audit at every turnover, replacing parts rather than whole units, keeps a property looking maintained without a large spend.
For seasonal owners, coverings come up twice. In April and May, closing everything before a summer of direct sun. In October through December, opening the unit and finding what stopped working while nobody was there. Both fit inside a single visit alongside the other items on the list. It is worth a covering check before you leave for the summer as well. A slat that is already cracked will not survive six months of afternoon sun on a west facing slider, and replacing it in April is a small part order rather than a whole new set in October.

Can you hang a curtain rod above my sliding patio door?
Yes, and it is a job worth having done properly. The wall above a slider in most Palm Beach County homes is block or a solid header, so hollow wall anchors fail. We test, set masonry anchors where needed, and add a center support on wide runs so the rod does not bow under heavy panels.
My condo says blinds have to be white. Is that real?
In many buildings here, yes. Associations commonly require the outward facing side of any covering to read white or off white so the building looks uniform from the parking lot or catwalk. Can you cut blinds down to fit my window?
Yes, we can cut stock blinds to an opening. Measure carefully before buying, because a cut blind cannot be returned. If you have not ordered yet, we can measure first and tell you whether an inside or outside mount suits the opening, which is where most fit problems start.
My vertical panels will not turn anymore. Do I need a whole new set?
Usually not. Salt film and grit stiffen the carriers inside the headrail, and carriers, panels, wands, and cords are replaceable on most sets found in this county's older condo stock. We will tell you when a repair makes sense and when the headrail itself is finished and replacement is the better money.
Do window coverings actually help with the heat here?
